It's a great feeling for a new hire to arrive on their first day of work with all the IT resources they need. Giving them the tools they require to get their job done benefits the organization as well. With things like computers, phones, and software configured and ready to go, new employees can begin focusing on addressing the responsibilities of their role - not tracking down the things they need to get their job done.
So consider these instructions your holy grail for getting your employees off on the right foot in their new role!
How do I make sure my new hire's IT needs are met?
As soon as a new position is confirmed and filling that position begins, reach out to IT about technology needs. See IT's policy about hardware & software purchasing here. The lead on purchasing and delivering a workstation is up to 2 weeks. More lead time translates to cost savings and sourcing the best hardware for the role.
At least 5 business days before an employee's first day, fill out IT's 'On Boarding and Off Boarding Form'
- Link to form is here.
- This form sets in motion the setup of a new employee's email address, access to business data, and workstation.
If this form isn't filled out, your employee will not have access to the resources they need to do their job.
Fill out form = a happy, productive employee.
Fill out form = reduced stress on the IT department.
