Welcome to SPARC, new employee! You should have a lot of questions, and we're here to answer them - or at least the ones that relate to IT. (Existential questions will need to directed to your nearest licensed philosopher.)

Speaking of philosophy, ours is to enable access to as many helpful resources as possible so you can become fluent in the software and services we use. That's the purpose of this Knowledge Base. Similarly, the expectation for you as a member of our staff is to educate yourself in the tools you'll be using. 

A Knowledge Base, (hereby referred to as a KB from here on out), is simply a collection of articles organized around topics and categories. Our KB addresses common questions about our IT systems.

So where should you start?

  1. Read all the articles in IT 101. These are the basics and will explain how to get IT support when you run into trouble.
  2. Read the General Policies & Procedures section. The IT staff will ❀ you if you work within the guidelines we've set.
  3. Read all articles for the software you'll be working with in the Software & Services section. If you start using a Software or Service in the future, come back and read up on it.
  4. If you’re a supervisor, review the Personnel Procedures section.

Have feedback or a question on the topic you’re reading about? Leave a message in the comment area at the bottom of the article. And if you have an idea for a new section or article, you can click the Community section from the main page and create a post under the “Request” topic with your idea.

Move between areas of the KB by using the breadcrumb trail towards the top of the page. For example, it could look something like this: StaffCo Support > Software & Services > Slack. Click anywhere in that menu to return to that level of the KB.
