Tips for accessing POS remotely

After you're finished using POS remotely, it's essential that you close POS and sign out completely.

If not, the next person who needs access won't be able to open POS.

So please, unless you also want to be known as a P.O.S., remember to log off when you're done.

Signing Out in Windows 7

  1. Click the Start menu in the bottom-left corner of the screen.
  2. Click the Log Off button.

Signing Out in Windows 10

  1. Click the Start menu in the bottom-left corner of the screen.
  2. Find the small round icon that looks like a person. It might be at the top of the Start menu, or on the left-hand side.
  3. Right-click the icon.
  4. Click Sign Out.

Remember - Only closing the remote desktop window doesn’t officially sign you out. Follow the instructions above to sign out completely.

How to get access to POS when you receive the message that it's already open under another user account:

  1. In Windows, search for Task Manager and open it.
  2. In the window that opens, click the Users tab. (In Windows 10, use may need to click the More Details button at the bottom first.)
  3. You'll see a list of users who have open remote sessions on the computer. One of these users has POS open. Reach out to each user and ask them to close POS, or arrange a time to access when they're done.
